Tropical Storm Andrea stealing my thunder - no pun intended!

It's a title which only one storm, by definition, can snag each year: "the first named storm of the 2013 Atlantic hurricane season."  This year, the winner was Tropical Storm Andrea.

I'm sure by the time you see this post you have already heard of Andrea.  Though, I was hoping the reference would be to me, Andrea Morelos, and the launch of my new virtual law office! But nope, for the past several days, the search engines for anything 'Andrea' have all pointed to Andrea the storm.
At first I was feeling jealous and overshadowed; wishing my SEO keywords had been better this week! But turns out it was all for a good cause, as some people did not seem too concerned when the news hit since after all, it was just a tropical storm.

There was much talk earlier this week by, amongst others, meteorologists about when and how badly Tropical Storm Andrea was going to hit Florida.

Florida was just in the news last month when one of its residents claimed the highest solo Powerball Jackpot in history ($590 Billion!). The winning ticket was purchased in Zephyrhills, Florida, whose official motto is "City of Pure Water" for its own natural springs, bottled water company. Well the city certainly got plenty of water yesterday when the storm finally hit land yesterday evening along the Florida Big Bend!

While it never reached the wind speeds of even the lowest hurricane category, this storm wreaked plenty of havoc throughout Florida up through my state of North Carolina all in less than 24 hours.  According to the National Hurricane Center, "Andrea is expected to produce total rain accumulations of 2 to 4 inches" from North Carolina up through the coast of Maine.

As noted here, the storm was definitely weakening but the key factor has been  the torrential rains, which have caused flash flooding. That, together with the continued 45 MPH winds, led to many tornadoes, fallen trees, down power lines, etc. In fact, as I was typing this post, the power went out...along with my Wi-Fi connection (as a result of, as I later Googled to learn, several down trees just down my street).

But I, Andrea, was not going to let Andrea, the storm, get the best of me! I simply put my hotspot devices into place and was back online soon enough, so I could now finish this out with...

Keep up with Andrea, the storm, here
Keep up with Andrea, the attorney, here and subscribing to this Blog of course!
